Parenting Plans

What is a Parenting Plan?

In Georgia, all cases involving the determination of permanent custody, whether an initial action or modification action requires a parenting plan.  Parenting plans may be agreed upon or submitted by each party, and ruled on by the court.  The parenting plan will include all vital aspects of the custody and parenting time arrangement between the parties, such as legal decision-making, visitation, transportation, and other important matters about the children.  If the parties are unable to agree on a parenting plan, the judge will make the final decision based on the best interests of the child(ren).
